Laser, IPL, RF

To offer cosmetic laser, IPL or Radiofrequency (RF), Arizona requires that you have a medical director since these devices are considered medical devices. 

 

A medical director can be on-site (usually in a med spa or a dermatologist's office, usually owned by someone else), BUT certain services can be offered with a medical director off-site, so you can own and operate your own business and not have to work for someone else. Dr. Whelchel offers off-site medical director services to small businesses just like yours.

 

What can I do as a Laser Tech in Arizona?
 

A Certified Laser Tech may offer any of the following with proper training, with an off-site medical director:
 

• Laser and/or IPL hair removal

• RF body sculpting

• RF fat pocket reduction

• RF skin rejuvenation/collagen induction

• RF microneedling

Note: Only a CLT with an on-site medical director or a nurse with an off-site medical director can offer other Laser or IPL services (including Photo-Facial)
 

RF is regulated but has fewer requirements, and at this time, anyone (you don't have to be a CLT) can offer the above RF services as long as they have a medical director (off-site is ok!) and have been trained on the device they will use.
